Sharing History to Remember

In the books I touched on history of different things. The one which is close to my heart is family history. Different relatives from both my mother's side of the family and my father's side of the family told family stories. Some of those stories involve attachment to history of a place and its people not just my relatives. They also shared history from different areas around eastern Oklahoma or took my brother and me to historical locations in others states.

I also mentioned history involving explorers/discovers which though most of our history books mainly teach of the European explorers, but there were explorers not always mentioned except through either oral history or the evidence they left behind.

The people of the Americas (Turtle Island amongst other names) before the European arrival including the Vikings were explorers/discovers in their own right. For they truly were the ones who knew the "western hemisphere" and all its wonders. As the first Europeans arrived whether they were the Vikings, Irish monks, or the Knights Templar (depending on which history you go by) some of the First People tribes did greet these visitors. Depending on which version you go with these meetings went on to be good or they went on to bad relationships between cultures.

I also spoke of those first travelers of space exploration who started their travels in preparation for those who did go into space, the ones who made it there, and those who for various reasons died related to space travel.

History can be good and it can be bad. Cultures who have won over others for the most part removed or completely destroyed references to the history of the cultures they conquered. This has happened throughout human history for various reasons given by the victors. Luckily for us not all the history is lost, but unfortunately some history is not tried to be erased only within wars. Those with different ideologies or ones who don't reminders of the bad things that have happened will try to remove or even destroy these reminds that not all history is good. What they fail to see they are repeat history itself and they are making it easier for future generations who might not find access to the removed history will also repeat it.

I share history even though I have found both the good and the bad history which happened to the different ethnic groups of my family's ancestral history. Yes, I don't like the bad things that happened, but after those bad things happened good people emerged. They did there best to not let those things happened again so they reminded they different generations that they did happen.
